Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Matchy collects, why, and how you can control it. We collect only what we need to run the service.
Who is responsible
Absolute Robotics, operating the Matchy service provides Matchy at https://matchy.app. For privacy questions, email hello@matchy.app.
If you are in the EEA or UK, we process personal data under the GDPR / UK GDPR. Legal bases we rely on: consent (host requests and optional cookies), contract (your account), and legitimate interests (showing public FTC event and team data you asked to view).
What we collect
Account: email, name and avatar from Google. Login creates an Auth.js session cookie so you stay signed in.
Host requests: name, email, phone, event name, city, dates, event type, and optional notes that you submit on the host form.
Published meets: event details, match scores, and awards that an approved host chooses to publish.
We do not sell personal data. We do not buy marketing lists.
Public FTC data we display
Team stats, event listings, and match telemetry shown in search and scout views come from public feeds: FTC Scout (api.ftcscout.org) and FIRST FTC Events (ftc-events.firstinspires.org / ftc-api.firstinspires.org). Those sources publish competition data; Matchy requests them when you open those pages.
We do not use that public catalog as a substitute for your account data. Public listings are not something you submit to us.
Data stored only on your device
Watchlist, scout notes, language, and theme preferences stay in your browser (localStorage). They are not uploaded to Matchy unless a later feature says so.
YouTube videos you paste into scout notes may load from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) if you choose to embed them.
Cookies
The strictly necessary cookies Matchy sets are the Auth.js session cookie after Google sign-in. They are required for authentication.
We do not currently run advertising or third-party analytics pixels. Optional tracking stays off unless you accept non-essential cookies in the banner. Details are in the Cookie Policy.
How long we keep data
Account and session data last while your account is active, plus a short period after you ask us to delete it so we can complete the request.
Host requests are kept so admins can approve or refuse them, then as needed for security and abuse prevention.
You can ask us to erase personal data we hold about you, subject to legal retention duties.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to certain processing. Email hello@matchy.app.
You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If we use a processor, they may only process data on our instructions.
Children
Matchy is built for FTC teams, which often include minors. We do not knowingly use children’s data for marketing. Host accounts should be created by a coach, parent, or other responsible adult. If you believe a child’s data was submitted in error, contact hello@matchy.app.
